The certificate is issued by Korea's National Police Agency, free of charge, through their official online system or in person at a local police station. Applicants must specify the purpose of the request — for use abroad, this is the "overseas entry/residence" purpose, which produces a document that can be printed and submitted. A certificate requested purely for personal reference is generally not valid for submission elsewhere.
Korean law treats older convictions that meet certain conditions as "lapsed" over time, similar to a spent conviction in other countries. Certificates issued for the overseas entry/residence purpose — the version used for visa, permanent residency, and citizenship applications — do not include lapsed convictions. This is separate from the personal-reference version of the certificate (screen-view only, not valid for submission), which can show a fuller record for the individual's own reference.
The same pricing applies across all five situations above — two ways to complete authentication, depending on your destination country.
Covers issuance and Hague Apostille certification, for destination countries that are Hague Convention members.
Final pricing depends on your destination country's embassy or consulate in Korea, and is confirmed during your consultation.
