What This Document Contains

When You'll Need This

Who Can Request This

This service is for anyone who held a Korean driver's license and now needs their Korean driving history authenticated for use abroad — including former residents applying for insurance discounts, rideshare or delivery platforms, or commercial driving jobs overseas. You do not need a Korean bank account, Korean mobile number, or Digital Certificate (Joint Certificate) — a signed power of attorney and identity verification are enough for us to request the certificate on your behalf.

Documents You'll Need

Once your consultation is confirmed and payment is complete, we'll email you the exact checklist of documents required for your case — no need to gather everything upfront.

Getting This From Abroad: Your Options

There are two ways to get a Korean driving record authenticated for use abroad once you've left Korea.

Option 1 — Handle it yourself. You can request the certificate directly from the relevant Korean licensing authority (which requires Korean identity verification, and in many cases an in-person visit or a Korean-resident representative), then bring it to Korea's Ministry of Foreign Affairs for an Apostille, or to your destination country's embassy or consulate in Korea for Consular Confirmation. This is possible without a service, but it typically requires a trip back to Korea or a Korean resident acting on your behalf.

Option 2 — Use GetKoreanDocs. We request the certificate on your behalf, complete the Apostille or Consular Confirmation, and ship the finished document to you internationally, without you needing to set foot in Korea.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I get my Korean Driving Record Certificate apostilled if I'm no longer in Korea?

Yes. We request the certificate from the relevant Korean licensing authority and complete the Apostille or Consular Confirmation on your behalf, without you needing to visit Korea in person.

What is this document officially called in Korea?

It's officially known as 운전경력증명서 (Certificate of Driving Career/History). We recommend referencing this Korean name during your consultation, as the exact English title can vary by issuing office.

What does the certificate show?

It shows your name and license number, license class and date of first acquisition, and your total years of driving history including any recorded violations.

How long does the process take?

Apostille and Consular Confirmation packages generally take 13 or more business days to process, not including international shipping. Exact timing depends on your destination country and is confirmed during your consultation.

Can this help me get an insurance discount abroad?

Many insurers abroad offer no-claims or driving-experience discounts if you can prove your driving history — this certificate, once apostilled or consular-confirmed, is commonly used for that purpose.

What if I'm not sure whether I need an Apostille or Consular Confirmation?

That's common — tell us your destination country during your free consultation, and we'll confirm the correct authentication path before anything is charged.
